About Sumo in Osaka

I’m Kenji Morita, born and raised in Namba, Osaka. I’ve been to the March Grand Sumo Tournament at Edion Arena nearly every year since childhood, and I’ve sat through all four of the year-round sumo shows in the city to work out which are worth a tourist’s money. This site is an independent guide to booking sumo in Osaka, so you can see sumo whatever week you visit.

What this site is

I research the sumo experiences available in Osaka on GetYourGuide, read through hundreds of traveller reviews, and write honest, practical guidance on which experience suits which traveller. I’m not a tour operator and I don’t sell tickets. When you’re ready to book, I send you to GetYourGuide, a licensed reseller, to complete your booking.

Editorial independence

I earn a small affiliate commission when you book through my links, at no extra cost to you. That’s what keeps this site free and lets me keep writing. It never changes which experiences I recommend. A real tournament in March is better than any show I can point you to, and I’ll say so plainly. See my affiliate disclosure for the full picture.
