How to get to Osaka sumo venues: train and subway directions

All sumo venues are train/subway accessible from central Osaka. The March tournament is at Edion Arena in Namba. Year-round shows are either central Namba or near Kansai International Airport (KIX). No venue is more than 10 minutes from a major station.

Edion Arena Osaka (March tournament)

Address: Namba, Naniwa Ward, Osaka (official tournament venue). How to get there: Namba Station on the Midosuji subway line (from Umeda or Shin-Osaka), then a few minutes on foot. Nankai Namba and Kintetsu/Hanshin Namba are also close. It's in central Osaka and easy to reach.

Sumo Studio Osaka (Live-show flagship, $59)

Location: Directly in front of Exit 4, Hanazonochō Station. How to get there: Take the Midosuji or Yotsubashi subway line to Hanazonochō. Exit 4. You can't miss it; the venue is right there. Very central, walkable from Namba area if you like a 10-minute stroll.

Ochiizumibeya (Show + Chanko $56, Wagyu $111)

Location: ~5 minutes from Kansai International Airport (KIX). How to get there: If you're arriving at or leaving from KIX, this is the most convenient venue. From KIX, take the Haruka Express train to Kawaramaichi Station (~75 min), then taxi or local transport 5 min to Ochiizumibeya. Otherwise, from central Osaka, take the Haruka Express (or regular train) toward KIX and get off at Kawaramaichi. Good first or last stop of a trip if you're flying in/out.

Sumo Hall Hirakuza (Show + Bento, $89)

Location: 8th floor of Namba Parks, right next to Nankai Namba Station. How to get there: Nankai Namba Station on the Nankai main line or Nankai Koya line. Exit into Namba Parks. It's above the train station. The most central of all venues — seamless if you're already in Namba.

Getting to Osaka from the airport

From Kansai International Airport (KIX): The Haruka Express train goes directly to Namba (about 75 minutes, frequent service). From Namba, all central venues are accessible by foot or short metro ride.

Day-trip from Kyoto

Kyoto to Osaka is ~15 minutes by bullet train (Tokaido Shinkansen) or ~80 minutes by local train. Easy day-trip for a show or the March tournament.

Which venue is most central?

Sumo Hall Hirakuza (8th floor Namba Parks, $89) and Sumo Studio Osaka (Hanazonochō, $59) are both central Namba. Ochiizumibeya is near KIX, good if you're arriving/departing that day.

Can I walk between venues?

Hanazonochō and Namba Parks are about 10–15 minutes apart on foot. You could do both in one day if you had the time.
